Allison Van Pelt grew up in Chicago and moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin to work as a Colorist in a local stained glass company. Her works are hand drawn, primarily in ink and marker. She received her BFA at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Painting, with minors in Art History and Cinema Studies. Following graduation, Allison attended the New York Arts Program where she assisted prominent artists with their work and upcoming shows.
Allison has shown work for several Morpho Gallery and Conception Arts exhibits in Chicago. She also was included in VAM’s Flats Studio show and video pieces showcasing up and coming Chicago artists. She has also curated a show at Old Town Triangle dedicated to local Chicago painter Nancy Heggemeier. Voyage Chicago interviewed her for their list of “Thought Provokers” in Chicago, as well as another article, “Flashes & Strokes: A Tale of Two Mediums,” which showcased her work. Artrepreneur included her work in their list of favorite artists. She was awarded a Special Mention from Art Show International Winter 2022 Grant Competition. She draws spooky creatures and characters who represent different stages of grief and trauma. |
